年月把擁有變做失去 [Time can bring you down, time can bend your knees] (2019)
Edison bulb and mixed media installation
Through the warm, nostalgic glow of the fading Edison bulb, this installation reflects on what we lose as time marches on.
Once found in every home, the classic tungsten bulb has been replaced by modern technology, its use now restricted or forbidden in many places.
The Cantonese title is inspired by Beyond's famous anthem about Nelson Mandela, reminding us that "time takes your possessions away." Through the dying light of an obsolete object, the piece echoes the melancholic rhythm of Eric Clapton's Tears in Heaven: time can bring you down, time can bend your knees.
